Charlotte and I are taking ukulele lessons together. Such a sweet instrument! Learning something entirely new together is such fun and I think a lot less stressful for a young student, since we are BOTH beginners. Doesn’t hurt that Taylor Swift plays either I suppose…

Lots of work gets done when your office smells of lilacs. Brings me back to childhood when our long driveway had purple lilacs going up one side and white going up the other. Come to think of it…haven’t seen white lilacs in a loooong time.
We love snow days! Except when our much anticipated Gauguin sessions have to be cancelled. Oh well - a neighborhood student and Early Masters veteran Madeline Bledsoe made the most of things yesterday and came over to the studio and painted our windows! (missing in photo is huge paint brush she painted on other side).
We will have to sneak in four days before our Feb. 7 installation for the Gauguin show at Seattle Art Museum. We love a deadline at Early Masters!

Happy New Year Everyone!
Finally back on line after a break from computers for the past few weeks. I’ve been happily laying low cooking, reading, seeing friends, and hanging out with my kids. All which has made me feel ridiculously grateful.
My new year’s resolutions? I will stop making lists of goals I can’t possibly achieve. I will not flinch at a second piece of chocolate cake. And, I will stop hiding my Canadian and European Hello magazines inside The New Yorker.
Another big one for twentytwelve (my nephew insists I call it this)- no computers or phones after 8pm. Hard, especially as that is sort of prime ‘email/blog time’ but remain strong. And it is only Jan 6 after all, it’s easy to feel strong at this point.
Ooh and I am looking forward to seeing all those little faces at the studio this month! My new year really starts when those doors open again and all our Early Masters families are coming and going.
Here’s a shot of my family, wishing all of you a very happy new year!
